The name ‘PAIRI DAEZA’ means ‘walled garden’ in ancient Persian. Persian gardens are world-famous for their exceptional aesthetics, architecture and sustainability. That is why the term ‘PAIRI DAEZA’ became a loanword and shaped the concept of godly paradise in many languages such as Greek and all the other European languages, Semitic, Hebrew and Arabic.
Main Features of Persian Gardens:
- Application of straight lines and geometrical shapes (especially square) in its overall composition
- A pavilion at the center or the highest part of the garden
- A water channel running throughout all seasons with little waves and pleasant sound, created by use of carved stones throughout the water passage
- A pool at the center or close to the pavilion, to provide storage/source for the water and a fresh view
- Construction of the garden on a sloping ground to help the water flow and create the best view throughout the garden
- Combination of tall trees (especially on both sides of the central axis), the water channels and narrow passages to create shadow, cool temperature and a deep view for the pavilion
- Southwest to northeast as the main axis, to prevent the direct sunshine in the heat of the desert
- Division of the garden in four sections to plant: fruit trees, medicinal flowers, roses and other ornamental flowers
